More About KATIE DONNISON

 Hi, my name is Katie

I've been a practising Psychotherapeutic Counsellor since 2017. Psychotherapy and counselling are both effective methods of therapy, however, psychotherapy focuses more on long-term issues and growth, while counselling aims to help people resolve current issues. I am able to other both of these methods as I do not believe in a 'one size fits all' approach; instead, I draw on different methods and styles depending on your needs. I work deeply with my clients to discover the origins of the difficulties that can affect one’s life, and what or who might be maintaining them. I allow you the space to explore and express your thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns in more depth, examining whether there is anything that, together, we can work towards changing.

As well as working in Psychotherapy and Counselling, I hold a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology, which provides a deeper background understanding of human thinking and behaviours.

I have 7 years’ experience, including working as therapist within a GP practice, where I worked alongside clients with a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, bullying, domestic abuse, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, childhood trauma, infertility, lack of confidence, and the general day-to-day challenges that life throws at us.

Alongside this, I worked within a women's domestic abuse charity, where I specialised in working with female survivors of various forms of domestic abuse, including sexual, emotional and physical abuse and coercive control.

Following this, in 2020 I worked within the NHS, counselling doctors dealing with the COVID crisis.

I currently work in private practice with people from all walks of life.
